JACK'S THATCH WINDOW

This is Old Jack’s Thatch Cottage, one of the last remaining cottages in Ireland. Old Jack is long gone; he died in his 80’s in the 1970’s.

As kids, my friends and I used to call by to see Old Jack who lived alone. He was always delighted to see us and telling us stories of his childhood by the open fire. We would sit around enjoying his stories of past times. We were allowed to collect the eggs from his hens and take them home. I happened to pass by recently - not much left of Jack’s thatch now, so in his memory I painted old Jack’s cottage window
